Joan Shelton, 77, of Loretto, TN, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at her home after an extended illness. She was a retired secretary for the Lawrence County Board of Education and a devoted member of Loretto Methodist Church. Joan was a native of Lauderdale County, AL.
Funeral services will be held at Loretto Methodist Church on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with Jeff Jacob officiating. Burial will follow in Loretto Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on the same day at Loretto Methodist Church.
Joan is survived by her son, Kenneth “Kenny” Shelton (Lori) of Florence, AL; daughters, Lisa Johns of Loretto, TN, and Christy Green of St. Joseph, TN; brothers, Larry Killen (Roseanne) of Cleveland, TN, and Gary Killen of Rome, GA; sister, Genevieve Newton of Loretto, TN; 7 grandchildren, Justin Johns, Brandon Johns, Ashley Abercrombie, Tristan Green, Alyssa Green, Murphy Shelton, and Palmer Shelton; and 4 great-grandchildren, Alli, Willa, Waylon, and Carter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth W. Shelton; parents, R.D. & Aulean White Killen; brother, Dwight Killen; and sister, Peggy Killen.
Joan will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. May she rest in peace.
