Joel McKissack, 69, of Leoma, TN, passed away on July 14, 2025, at his residence. He was a self-employed computer engineer and a member of Crossroads Freewill Baptist Church. Joel was a music editor for several southern gospel music companies and had written hundreds of gospel songs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph Harding and Eula Mae Holly McKissack, and two brothers, Ralph “Tony” McKissack, Jr. and Jerry Ray McKissack. Joel is survived by his four children, Jeremy McKissack, Monica Wilkerson, Lee McKissack, and Krissy Webb, as well as his sister, Alice “Gaye” Hardy, and two brothers, Fred McKissack and Mark McKissack. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Neal Funeral Home on July 18, 2025, with funeral services to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent via the funeral home’s website.
