Joyce Marie Weigart, 78, of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2025. Born on April 13, 1947, in Loretto, Tennessee, Joyce was raised by her mother, Vina Johnson Ellis, and grandmother, Clara Pillow Johnson. She had 2 siblings, Juanita Wunner Kilburn and Carl Wunner.
Joyce’s love of cooking was nurtured by her mother-in-law, Annie Marie Weigart, and at age 38, she opened the Family Restaurant in Loretto, TN. She later opened the Kuntry Kitchen in Lexington, AL, and eventually returned home to open the Kuntry Kitchen in Lawrence County. She ran the beloved restaurant for nearly 4 decades before retiring in 2022, entrusting her legacy to her granddaughter, Joie Hunt.
Joyce was a loving, forgiving, strong, and fiercely independent woman, and her love of cooking, family, and Tennessee sports lives on through her dedicated family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Vina Johnson Ellis, brother, Carl Wunner, sister, Juanita Kilburn, infant daughter, Susan Rena Weigart, beloved daughter, Donna Lee Carter, and grandson, Jason Carter.
Joyce is survived by her loving daughter, Tina Hunt, son, Michael Weigart, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, and funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home with interment to follow at Loretto Cemetery in Loretto, TN.
Joyce will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
