Karen Sue Chambers Russell

Karen Sue Chambers Russell, 73, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2023, at Maury Regional Hospital. She was born on July 26, 1951. Karen was a beloved sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She was a dedicated professional, having worked as a physical therapist in Giles and Lawrence Counties before transitioning to a career in Huntsville as a scheduler for the Space Program and Department of Defense.

Karen was deeply passionate about the history of Elkton and Giles County. She was actively involved in various historical societies and served on the board of the Giles County Trail of Tears Interpretive Center. Her commitment to preserving local history and heritage was truly admirable.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025, from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm in the chapel, with Bro. Brad Smith officiating. Burial will take place in the Elkton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Community Rural Food Delivery or the Trail of Tears Interpretive Center.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Mary Dunnavant Chambers. She is survived by her sister, Wanda Smith of Elkton, TN, nephew Bro. Brad (Angie) Smith of Elkton, TN, as well as several cousins and friends.
