On Tuesday, February 25th, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) hosted a public meeting at the Jack Daniel’s Welcome Center, drawing a significant turnout of local anglers and community members. The primary focus of the gathering was on fisheries management practices implemented below the Tims Ford Dam, an area where TWRA actively stocks trout to cater to fishermen with varying levels of expertise and equipment.
The meeting commenced with a presentation by Alex Bybel, a Fisheries Biologist with TWRA, who outlined the current strategies employed in managing the fishery. Following the informative session, attendees had the opportunity to engage directly with TWRA biologists, law enforcement personnel, and representatives from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) at designated listening stations. These interactions allowed participants to discuss a range of topics, including access to fishing areas, stocking practices, regulations, water management, and any general concerns they might have.
This event served as a platform for local fishermen to voice their suggestions and feedback aimed at enhancing the fishing experience at the Tims Ford Tailwater. The TWRA values the input from the public and is committed to continuing this dialogue through various outreach efforts and social media channels in the future.
