At the recent meeting of the Lawrenceburg Rotary Club held on Friday, August 1, Landon Saunders took center stage as the guest speaker. As a board member of Downtown Lawrenceburg, a representative of the Lawrence County Airport, and the owner of Cloud 9 Fiber Internet, Saunders brought valuable insights to the gathering. He shared important updates regarding two significant infrastructure projects that are currently underway in the area: the expansion of the Lawrenceburg airport and the growth of Cloud 9 Fiber internet services.
During his presentation, Saunders clarified that while there are no immediate plans to extend the airport’s existing runway, which measures 5,000 feet, there are substantial improvements on the horizon. The primary focus at this time is to enhance hangar capacity and increase the available parking space for aircraft, which is essential to meet the rising demand from private aircraft owners. He reassured attendees that the airport is already capable of accommodating most privately owned aircraft without any complications under the current conditions.
In addition to the airport updates, Saunders also discussed the ongoing expansion of Cloud 9 Fiber, a provider of high-speed internet services. He announced that the network is set to extend its reach northward toward Summertown and westward toward Deerfield. Furthermore, an extension along Prosser Road is anticipated to be completed within the next year. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to enhance connectivity for both residents and businesses throughout Lawrence County.
The members of the Rotary Club expressed their gratitude for Saunders’ informative update and acknowledged his continued commitment to serving the community through his various roles, particularly with Downtown Lawrenceburg.
