Larry Wade Stooksberry

Larry Wade Stooksberry, 66, of Loretto, TN, passed away on August 8, 2025, at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend. Stooks, as he was affectionately known, was a dedicated member of Iron City First Baptist Church and a proud graduate of Loretto High School. He found joy in cheering for the Atlanta Braves, UT football, and NASCAR, but his greatest happiness came from watching his sons pursue their passions in sports.

Stooks dedicated 19 years of his life to Murray Ohio and then served as a maintenance technician at Nucor Steel in Decatur, AL, for 22 years. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.

He is survived by his loving wife, Sally White Stooksberry, his sons Austin Stooksberry (Alexis) and Aaron Stooksberry (Savanna), his sister Pamela Stooksberry, sister-in-law Susan Alsup, and several nephews, nieces, and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward Stooksberry and Evelene Gambrell Stooksberry, and his brother Teddy Stooksberry.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 11:00am – 2:00pm, at Greenhill Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 2:00pm, with Bro. Steven Turnbow and Bro. Craig Mason officiating. Stooks will be laid to rest at Hollis Cemetery.

The family expresses their gratitude to everyone who supported and encouraged Stooks during his journey, as well as Dr. K and the team at CCI at Huntsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Stooks will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace.
