The South Central Human Resource Agency (SCHRA) has officially announced that the last Lawrence County Commodity Distribution will occur on Wednesday, September 17, 2025. This event is scheduled to take place from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church located at 2100 Springer Road in Lawrenceburg. This distribution is part of the USDA’s Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), which will conclude under the administration of SCHRA on September 30, 2025.
As part of a transition, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture will hand over the program’s oversight to regional food banks. Starting in October, the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee will become the primary resource for USDA Commodities in the region. Residents looking for information regarding new distribution locations can reach out to Second Harvest at 615-329-3491 or visit their website at secondharvestmidtn.org/find-resources/find-food. For further inquiries, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture can be contacted at 615-837-5103.
SCHRA has expressed its heartfelt appreciation to the community, highlighting that it has been a privilege to provide this essential service for over three decades. For those interested in commodity distributions in other counties, additional information can be found at www.schra.us/news. It is important to note that all distributions will be conducted as drive-thru only. To ensure the quickest service, clients are encouraged to pre-register with their local SCHRA office at least two days before their county’s distribution. They should also provide proof of eligibility, which can include SNAP, TANF, SSI, LIHEAP, or income verification. Individuals who do not pre-register may still have the opportunity to qualify at the distribution site.
