Laura Mae Pettus, age 93, of Lexington, AL, passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, at her home after an extended illness. She was a beloved homemaker and a cherished member of Green’s Chapel. Laura was a native of Lauderdale County, AL. Her funeral services will be held at Loretto Memorial Chapel on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm, with Samuel Roe officiating. Burial will follow in Richardson Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm on the same day at Loretto Memorial Chapel.
Laura is survived by her daughter, Merita Gail Johnston (Randy) of Lexington, AL; three sisters: Frances Johns of Greenhill, AL, Marie Springer and Marcell Pettus, both of Lexington, AL; two grandsons: Andrew Johnston (Grace) and David Johnston (Brooke); four great-grandchildren: Patrick, Rollie, Wesley, and Margie; daughters-in-law: Brenda Pettus and Betty Pettus and her children; step-grandchildren: Jonathan Pettus (Angela) and Matthew Pettus (Jana); step-great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Jackson, Harrison, and Kate; many special nieces and nephews; and special church friends: Faye Carlock and Marcell Creekmore. Laura was also grateful for the care and support of Leca Melton, Kirsten Fenton, and The Affinity Hospice Team.
Laura was preceded in death by her husband, Rollie Wesley Pettus; step-sons, Ronald and Jerry Pettus; and her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Imogene Springer.
Laura will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace.
