Lawrence County Appoints Second Deputy Chief Position

In a recent initiative aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the Lawrenceburg Police Department, Chief Terry Beecham announced that the Municipal Technical Advisory Service (MTAS) has been engaged to assist with key areas such as recruitment, retention, and succession planning. Drawing on their extensive experience and insights, MTAS has put forth several recommendations, one of which involves a significant restructuring of the department.

This restructuring will take effect on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, at 8:00 AM, and is designed to introduce a second Deputy Chief position within the department. As part of this organizational change, Lieutenant Hughie Englett will be elevated to the role of Deputy Chief of Operations. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Daren Goolsby will transition to oversee the responsibilities of Deputy Chief of Administration.

The selection process for these positions was thorough, involving a careful review of individual performance, attitudes, and alignment with the department’s goals and objectives. This evaluation culminated in a decision that received the approval of the City Manager, ensuring adherence to both City and Department policies.
