An incident in Lawrence County, Tennessee, involving an assault and evasion of law enforcement by an Alabama man made headlines last week. According to reports, deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 open line call on Gillespie Lane on Friday. Upon arrival, they spoke with a female who reported being assaulted by a male who then left the residence in a blue vehicle. Interestingly, deputies had passed a vehicle matching the description on their way to the residence. They were able to locate the suspect on Rabbit Trail Road and initiated a traffic stop. However, the male accelerated and headed into Alabama, turning onto Alabama 64. The vehicle eventually stopped, and the suspect fled on foot. A Lawrence County deputy pursued the suspect until losing sight of him in the woods after crossing a creek.
Subsequently, Lauderdale County deputies were able to locate and detain the subject. A warrant for evasion was issued out of Lawrence County, and it was determined that the original assault occurred in Anderson, Alabama. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a shotgun and ammo, which were seized. Additionally, the subject faces five charges in Alabama related to the incident.
