Lawrence County EMS Reports January Statistics

The Lawrence County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has published its monthly report for January, detailing the department’s activities and performance. During this month, the EMS received a total of 620 service requests, resulting in the transportation of 439 patients. In addition to local transfers to Southern Tennessee Regional in Lawrenceburg, the department facilitated 52 transports to Maury Regional Medical Center, 9 to Southern Tennessee Regional in Pulaski, 21 to North Alabama Medical Center, and 42 to facilities in non-adjoining counties.

The report also highlighted instances where care was refused or deemed unnecessary, totaling 105 calls. Furthermore, there were 65 instances of canceled calls or situations where no patient was located. The EMS also responded to 23 requests for fire standby, law enforcement assistance, and mutual aid. A significant development for the department was the approval from the Lawrence County Commission for a fifth 24-hour ambulance, which is expected to enhance their operational capacity.

When comparing the call volume for January 2025 to that of December 2024, it remained consistent, indicating stable demand for emergency services. The department also focused on professional development, offering continuing education courses throughout January that covered topics such as blood-borne pathogens and domestic violence. Reflecting on the previous year, the Lawrence County EMS responded to approximately 6,950 requests and completed over 4,700 patient transports in 2024.
