Lawrence County Finals of the 2025 National Civics Bee

On Friday, March 14th, the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce proudly organized the 2025 National Civics Bee Lawrence County Finals at the Southern Tennessee Higher Education Center. This event saw an impressive turnout, with over two hundred essay submissions received. From this pool, nineteen outstanding middle school finalists were selected to participate in a live civics quiz, where they had the opportunity to present their ideas to a panel of judges.

The competition concluded with the announcement of the winners, who demonstrated remarkable knowledge and creativity. Jasper Clark from Summertown Middle School secured the first place, while Kenlee McDonald from E.O. Coffman Middle School earned the second position. Leevi Hicks from South Lawrence took home the third place. These top three finalists will advance to represent Lawrence County at the Tennessee State Finals scheduled for June, and we extend our best wishes to them as they continue in this prestigious competition.

The event was made possible through a collaborative effort with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and received generous sponsorship from Citizens Bank of Lawrence County. Additionally, Cloud 9 Fiber contributed as the technology sponsor, while Envision Eyecare and Eyewear provided refreshments for the attendees. The judging panel included notable figures such as County Executive David Morgan, Teresa Frazier from Citizens Bank, and School Board Member Bill Adams, who played a crucial role in evaluating the participants’ performances.
