Lawrence County Fire & Rescue had a particularly eventful weekend, showcasing their commitment to community safety. On Sunday afternoon, firefighters from both the Westpoint and Leoma Fire Stations were called to action to tackle a vehicle engulfed in flames within the Westpoint fire district. Once they had successfully managed the vehicle fire and returned to their duties, the Westpoint units were promptly dispatched again. This time, they headed to Wayland Springs Road, where a tree had fallen and was obstructing traffic near the three-mile marker.
The challenges continued to arise for the dedicated firefighters. Less than two hours after addressing the downed tree, Lawrence County Fire Rescue Units received another urgent call. This time, they were alerted to a lawn tractor that had caught fire and posed a threat to a nearby structure in the Leoma Fire district. Thanks to their swift response and effective firefighting techniques, the team was able to bring the situation under control quickly, ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.
