On Saturday, November 15, emergency responders from Lawrence County Fire Rescue and Lawrence County EMS were called to the Gandy Fire District following reports of a man who had become trapped under a large tree while operating machinery. Upon their arrival, the teams quickly coordinated their efforts to free the individual who was pinned.
In anticipation of the challenging rescue, a heavy wrecker was requested as a precautionary measure. To facilitate this, personnel from Lawrence County Emergency Management and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office provided an emergency escort for the wrecker. However, the skilled responders on-site were able to successfully extricate the man using the equipment they had available, completing the rescue before the heavy wrecker could reach the scene.
Fortunately, the patient was freed and was able to walk away with only minor injuries. The incident highlighted the effective collaboration and teamwork among all the agencies involved in the response.
