Lawrence County Fire Rescue Responds to Blaze at Commercial Structure

On the morning of Saturday, December 14, just after 6:00 AM, units from Lawrence County Fire Rescue were dispatched to a reported structure fire located in the 300 block of Busby Road. Multiple motorists in the area had called in to report a fully engulfed shop-style building that posed a threat to the nearby residence on the property, as indicated by the initial dispatch details.

As the flames began to spread toward the house, an off-duty Tennessee State Trooper and a THP Cadet, who were traveling together in the vicinity, arrived at the scene. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, they promptly alerted the residents about the fire and assisted them in evacuating the premises and safeguarding their belongings from the encroaching flames.

Upon their arrival, firefighters immediately commenced efforts to extinguish the blaze. Due to the absence of a fire hydrant within a two-mile radius, the firefighting team had to implement a water shuttle operation, relying on tanker support to provide the necessary water for their efforts. A fire investigator was also dispatched to the scene to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.

The incident resulted in extensive damage, with significant destruction to the shop, several vehicles, and a trailer on the property. Responding to the emergency were various stations from the Lawrence County Fire Rescue, including Westpoint, Leoma, CenterPoint, Southeast, and Gandy, all working collaboratively to manage the situation.
