Lawrence County Fire & Rescue Tackles House Blaze in West End District

On Monday afternoon, the Lawrence County Fire & Rescue team mobilized multiple fire stations to tackle a significant structure fire in the West End Fire District. The alarm was raised shortly after 4:45 p.m., prompting immediate action from crews stationed at West End, Gandy, Ethridge, and Henryville. Upon their arrival, firefighters encountered a 1,750-square-foot home engulfed in flames.

In response to the intense situation, firefighters initiated a vigorous interior assault on the fire while additional units set up a water shuttle to ensure a steady supply of water. Their swift and coordinated efforts were instrumental in preventing the fire from spreading further, and fortunately, they confirmed that no individuals were trapped inside the residence. The blaze was eventually brought under control, and remarkably, there were no reported injuries among the responders or residents.

Following the successful containment of the fire, fire personnel remained on-site to conduct salvage operations, overhaul the affected area, and investigate the cause and origin of the fire. Unfortunately, the incident resulted in the displacement of two families, comprising four adults and one child. In light of this, fire officials are collaborating with local organizations to provide support and assistance to the affected families as they begin the recovery process.

The response involved several stations, including Stations 1, 2, 3, 6, 11, 13, and Box 50 Responder Services. Additionally, the Lawrence County E-911, Emergency Management Agency (EMA), and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) played vital roles in the overall response to this emergency situation.
