On Friday, April 4th, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding an ongoing burglary. The homeowner, who had managed to capture footage of the suspect on surveillance cameras, was en route to the scene armed with a shotgun. Upon arrival, law enforcement was informed by dispatch that the homeowner remained on the property while the suspect had already fled the scene after causing damage to a shop door.
After interviewing the homeowner, officers learned that the suspect had been driving a silver or gray Chevrolet Trailblazer, a model from the 1990s or early 2000s. Notably, the vehicle had plywood affixed to its roof and wooden fence posts protruding from the driver’s side back window. A thorough examination of the area revealed that the shop door had been damaged, a cord to an outdoor security light had been severed, and a deer camera, which had recorded the vehicle, was missing.
Further discussions with another deputy revealed that the suspect, identified as James Alexander Christian, was already known to law enforcement due to a recent arrest for burglary and theft of property just nights prior. The following day, the homeowner reached out to the Sheriff’s Department once more, reporting that the deer camera was still operational and that its GPS locator was pinging from a residence on Center Grove Road.
Responding to this new information, officers arrived at the indicated location, which turned out to be a church. There, they discovered the missing camera nestled in the flower bed near the front porch. After deliberating among themselves, the officers compiled a report and initiated a warrant for Christian, who was already linked to previous cases. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with this incident.
