A disturbing incident of road rage escalated into violence late Friday night in Lawrence County, culminating in gunfire and the arrest of a suspect. The events unfolded shortly after 11 p.m. on June 27th, when deputies were called to a residence on Red Hill Center Road following reports of a driver discharging a firearm at the home after a confrontation involving a 16-year-old girl.
Authorities revealed that the teenager had inadvertently activated her high beams while driving, which provoked another driver. This individual allegedly pursued the girl to her home, where a heated exchange took place between the driver and the girl’s father in the driveway. After initially leaving the scene, the suspect reportedly returned and fired a shot toward the residence.
Responding deputies quickly located a vehicle that matched the description of the suspect’s car — a dark-colored, older-model four-door vehicle — near the grain bins adjacent to the victim’s property. The officers conducted a traffic stop, apprehending the driver, who was identified as Briley Kase McMullin, without any resistance. During questioning, McMullin admitted to feeling enraged after being blinded by the high beams and confessed to retrieving a handgun from his grandmother’s home before returning to the Red Hill Center Road address to fire the shot.
