The Lawrence County Board of Education is set to convene on Thursday, September 25, at 5 p.m. The agenda for this meeting includes the election of new officers as well as an update on capital projects from ESG. In addition to these key items, the board will review a number of consent items. These will encompass the adoption of the meeting agenda, the approval of minutes from the previous meeting held on August 21, a business report, the approval of volunteers, and the planning of several overnight field trips.
Among the proposed trips are basketball tournaments for students from Lawrence County High School, Loretto High School, and Summertown High School. Additionally, there are plans for softball tournaments taking place in Alabama, along with events for the Beta Club and CTE Virtual Enterprise in Nashville and Murfreesboro.
Scheduled reports during the meeting will cover various topics, including safety, personnel updates, a report from the director, and updates from the Lawrence County Education Association and the Tennessee Legislative Network. A significant portion of the budget discussions will focus on health insurance premiums for the year 2026.
Furthermore, the board will deliberate on several other important matters, such as the potential addition of land for an ambulance station located on North Brace Road, the naming of the stadium at Loretto High School, the establishment of the annual agenda, the introduction of an Ingram Sowell pilot medication program, and the scheduling of winter sports.
Looking ahead, the next regular meeting of the board is planned for October 23 at 5 p.m.
