Lawrence County School System Introduces New Principal for Summertown High School

The Lawrence County School System has officially appointed Mr. Greg Burleson as the new principal of Summertown High School. Mr. Burleson began his educational journey at Summertown High in 1999, where he dedicated his efforts to teaching Business Education. In 2006, he transitioned into an administrative role at E.O. Coffman Middle School, serving as an Assistant Principal until 2008. Following this, he returned to Summertown High School, where he has spent eleven of the last seventeen years as an Assistant Principal.

Throughout his impressive 26-year career in education, Mr. Burleson has not only excelled in administrative roles but has also made significant contributions as a coach in various sports, including baseball, softball, and cross-country. His commitment to athletics was further recognized when he earned his Certified Athletic Administrator (CAA) certification while serving as the school’s Athletic Director.

On a personal note, Mr. Burleson is married to Kelly Burleson, who teaches at Summertown Elementary. Together, they have two daughters: Reagan, who is currently a softball player for the Chargers at Columbia State Community College, and Anisten, who is set to embark on her teaching career at Southside Elementary in Pulaski.
