In a move to support students’ well-being, the Lawrence County School Systems has revealed that all school cafeterias in the district will provide free breakfast and lunch for the upcoming school year. This initiative ensures that every student, regardless of their eligibility status, will have access to nutritious meals at no cost each school day, under the Community Eligibility Provision.
Participating in the federally funded National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, this offering is a part of the Community Eligibility Provision available to select schools in Tennessee. While the complete meal is provided free of charge, parents are encouraged to send money with their children for additional items such as bottled water, pizza slices, juice, or ice cream.
Notably, there will be no requirement for families to complete a free and reduced application this year, streamlining the process for students to benefit from the program. This move aims to alleviate financial burdens for families and ensure that all students have access to essential meals during the school day.
