On Monday, April 21st, the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department took action to execute a warrant service based on intelligence regarding a suspect’s whereabouts. Authorities had received credible information indicating that the suspect, identified as Anthony McGee, would be traveling along Pleasant Garden Road in Summertown, specifically near a cemetery.
In an effort to apprehend McGee, one investigator initiated a traffic stop on a white vehicle believed to be carrying him. Shortly thereafter, another investigator arrived to provide assistance during the stop. Following the successful halt of the vehicle, McGee was taken into custody without incident.
Upon conducting a search of the individuals inside the vehicle, law enforcement officials discovered a bag containing approximately 3.5 grams of methamphetamine. McGee acknowledged that he had brought the methamphetamine to offer as payment to the driver for a ride. Additionally, during a probable cause search of the vehicle, investigators found a digital scale in the backseat where McGee had been seated, which bore traces of methamphetamine residue. McGee admitted ownership of the scale.
Following his arrest, McGee was transported to the Lawrence County Corrections facility, where he was processed and subsequently released to the staff without any further complications. He now faces charges for Simple Possession of Methamphetamine and Drug Paraphernalia, in addition to being booked on an outstanding warrant.
