Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Publishes August Activity Summary

The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has published its monthly activity report, which provides a comprehensive overview of the various calls for service, arrests, and incidents that occurred throughout the month of August. During this period, deputies responded to a total of 1,114 calls, encompassing both proactive measures and reactive responses. This extensive engagement resulted in 151 arrests.

Among the incidents documented, there were 25 cases of domestic violence, alongside 17 reported thefts and an equal number of vandalism incidents. Additionally, the office recorded 12 cases of fraud. The deputies also addressed 57 calls related to animal issues and responded to 38 reports concerning suspicious individuals or activities.

In terms of traffic enforcement, deputies conducted 86 traffic stops and provided assistance to 21 motorists in need. The month also saw the investigation of 28 traffic accidents. The sheriff’s office was active in civil matters, executing 228 civil processes, offering 21 funeral escorts, and facilitating 21 mental health transports.

Special operations during August included two deployments of the SWAT team, although there were no instances of Taser usage reported. Furthermore, deputies responded to five calls regarding suicide attempts, highlighting the range of challenges faced by law enforcement in the community.
