On Saturday, February 15th, authorities from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distressing report of severe animal cruelty at a local residence. This incident marked yet another occasion where law enforcement had been alerted about the conditions at the property, where dogs had been seen wandering and appearing neglected. Upon their arrival, officers were informed by the homeowner’s son that his father was currently incarcerated and that his mother had been absent for nearly two weeks.
As the officers assessed the situation, they made a grim discovery: a deceased dog was found in the fenced backyard, alongside other animals that were left without access to food or water. Upon entering the home, law enforcement found six living dogs confined within a pen that was attached to the back of the mobile home. This pen had a hole cut into the structure, allowing the dogs to move in and out. Further examination revealed two additional deceased dogs located at the rear of the pen, leading to the disturbing conclusion that the surviving dogs had resorted to consuming the deceased animals, as evidenced by exposed ribcages and spines.
The investigation continued, and officers uncovered five more dogs inside the home, including a puppy, amidst a deplorable environment littered with animal feces. Immediate arrangements were made to provide food and water to the surviving dogs until they could be safely transported to an animal shelter. While attempting to extract the dogs from the pen, three more deceased animals were found. Among these, two were intact, while one was merely a head. In total, the authorities discovered eighteen dogs at the residence, twelve of which were alive and six that had perished.
The twelve surviving dogs were subsequently seized and taken to the Lawrenceburg Animal Shelter for care. Following the investigation, arrest warrants were issued for the homeowner, identified as Jennifer Marie Frost, charging her with eighteen counts of aggravated animal cruelty, corresponding to each dog found on the property, including the six that were deceased. Further updates on this case are anticipated.
