Lawrenceburg City Council Greenlights All Agenda Proposals; Fire and Police Departments Reveal New Appointments and Promotions

On Thursday, August 21, 2025, the Lawrenceburg City Council convened at the Municipal Complex, where they successfully approved all items on the agenda. This included a series of ordinances and resolutions that will have a significant impact on city zoning, budget allocations, and municipal operations. Among the key ordinances that received approval were amendments to the city’s zoning code, as well as updates to the requirements for building permits and site plans. Additionally, the council conducted first readings of ordinances that pertain to taxicab regulations and budget appropriations for the upcoming fiscal years of 2024–2025 and 2025–2026.

In terms of resolutions, the council took several important actions. They approved salary supplements for city employees and accepted professional engineering proposals aimed at enhancing pedestrian crossings at David Crockett State Park. Furthermore, they authorized the extension of Springer Road and reappointed members to the Lawrenceburg Beer Board. Another significant decision made was to allow the Lawrenceburg Police Department to procure four 2025 Dodge Durango SUVs through a state bid contract.

The meeting also marked a notable occasion for the Lawrenceburg Fire Department, which welcomed new firefighter Gage Thigpen. Promotions were announced as well, with Brian Green and Jon Brewer being elevated to the rank of Battalion Chief, while Adam Slater and Justin Belew were promoted to Captain. The Lawrenceburg Police Department similarly expanded its ranks, introducing new officers Jenna Chavez, Will Scott, Brian Vargas, and Keith Sandlin to the team.

Public hearings were conducted regarding Ordinances 1438 and 1439, allowing residents who wished to voice their opinions on agenda items to sign in prior to the meeting.
