Lawrenceburg City Council Scheduled to Convene This Thursday, June 26th

The Lawrenceburg City Council is scheduled to convene on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 9:00 AM. The meeting will take place in the Council Meeting Room, which is located within the Municipal Complex at 25 Public Square. Individuals who wish to speak on the agenda items listed below are required to sign in before the meeting commences.

On the agenda is the second reading of an ordinance aimed at amending Ordinance No. 1404. This ordinance pertains to the budget appropriations for revenue and expenditures for the fiscal year 2024-2025 concerning the General Fund of the City of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.

Additionally, the council will conduct the first reading of another ordinance that seeks to amend Ordinance Number 789, known as the “Zoning Ordinance of the City of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee.” This amendment will focus on Article VII, which covers Administration and Enforcement. Specifically, it will address Section 7.090 regarding amendments to the ordinance, Section 7.091 concerning fees, and will introduce a new Section 7.092. Furthermore, Section 7.100, which outlines penalties, will also be revised.

In terms of resolutions, the council will consider a proposal that authorizes the Lawrenceburg Fire Department to apply for a Recruitment and Retention (SAFER) grant from the Department of Homeland Security. This grant aims to support the recruitment of fifteen volunteers over a four-year period, with no financial burden on the city.

Another resolution on the agenda will permit the Lawrenceburg Fire Department to seek a Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant. This funding would be utilized to hire six full-time frontline firefighters for a duration of three years.

Lastly, the council will deliberate on a resolution that allows Dick McKinley to enter into an agreement with Lawrence County for the provision of animal shelter services.
