Lawrenceburg Safe Haven Baby Box Receives Blessing in Ceremony

In a heartwarming event scheduled for June 11th at 2 PM, a blessing ceremony will take place at Lawrenceburg Fire Station One to commemorate the installation of the Lawrenceburg Safe Haven Baby Box. This significant addition, made possible by local donations, now stands as a beacon of hope at the fire station on West Gaines Street, where it will receive constant monitoring.

Under the provisions of state law, new mothers are granted a two-week window to safely surrender their newborns, ensuring anonymity and protection from prosecution. In Lawrence County, both the Lawrenceburg Fire Department and Southern Tennessee Regional Health System-Lawrenceburg have been designated as Safe Haven centers, offering support and care to those in need.

Equipped with climate control features and a sophisticated alarm system, the baby box is designed to immediately alert the fire department and 911 upon the surrender of a baby. The introduction of the Safe Haven Baby Box in Lawrenceburg proudly marks the 235th location of its kind nationwide and the 7th in the state of Tennessee.
