Lewis County Sheriff’s Office Provides Complimentary Firewood to Assist Residents in Staying Warm

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is taking proactive steps to ensure that local residents can stay warm during the upcoming winter months. Sheriff Matt Tiller has announced the availability of a surplus of firewood intended for those who rely on wood as a primary source of heat in their homes. This initiative is particularly aimed at assisting senior citizens and individuals who are on a limited or fixed income.

To participate in this program, eligible residents are encouraged to visit the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, located at 437 Swan Avenue in Hohenwald, Tennessee. There, they can complete an application to request firewood. Each approved applicant will be able to receive between five to six ranks of firewood, which can be collected on Thursdays and Fridays from noon until 4:00 PM. The distribution of firewood will commence on Thursday, October 2, 2025, providing an essential resource for those in need as the colder months approach.
