Lewisburg City Council Dismisses City Manager Amid Arrest and TBI Investigation

In a decisive move, the Lewisburg City Council has opted to terminate City Manager Roy Haislip following his recent suspension and subsequent arrest on a series of charges. This decision was reached during a special meeting held on Tuesday afternoon, where council members cast their votes, resulting in a narrow 3–2 outcome. Haislip’s official termination will take effect at the conclusion of his 30-day suspension, which commenced on September 10.

The council’s action follows a report from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation released in May, which detailed troubling allegations against Haislip. According to the findings, he had repeatedly contacted a city employee despite being instructed to cease such communications. Furthermore, the report claims that he unlawfully entered the employee’s residence and removed personal property. Haislip was arrested in August and faces charges that include burglary, theft, and various property crimes.

During a previous council meeting, Haislip defended himself against the allegations, asserting that they remain unproven and emphasizing his commitment to leading the city with integrity. While some residents rallied in support of Haislip, others voiced their demands for accountability in light of the serious accusations. As the city prepares for Haislip’s departure, officials have yet to announce who will step in as the interim city manager once his termination is finalized.
