On Saturday, May 31st, 2025, deputies from the Limestone County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a shooting that occurred on Interstate 65, specifically near Mile Marker 347. The incident unfolded when a family traveling northbound on the highway found themselves under fire from an individual riding a motorcycle. The family, understandably alarmed, promptly called 911 to report the dangerous situation, as the bullets struck their vehicle, putting their lives in jeopardy.
In response to the emergency call, troopers from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) quickly mobilized and initiated a search for the suspect. Their efforts paid off when they located the individual approximately 10 miles from the scene of the shooting, aided by a detailed description provided by the victims. The suspect was identified as 30-year-old Jason Jermain Johnson, a resident of Centerville, Tennessee. Upon the arrival of Limestone County deputies to assist with the traffic stop, Johnson was found in possession of a loaded firearm along with two additional loaded magazines.
Further investigation revealed that Johnson was also wearing a bulletproof vest beneath an Outcast Motorcycle Club vest at the time of his arrest. After collecting evidence and statements from witnesses, authorities charged Johnson with Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle and three counts of Attempted Murder. As of now, no bond has been established for Johnson, and a hearing related to Aniah’s Law is scheduled to take place in the future.
