Local Resident Sustains Severe Injuries in Dog Attack

In the early hours of Friday morning, deputies from the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office responded to a distress call from a residence in Lawrenceburg, where a resident had been viciously attacked by her own Pit Bull. Upon their arrival, the deputies discovered the 49-year-old victim still in the presence of the aggressive dog. Faced with the urgent need to protect the woman, the deputies made the difficult decision to shoot and kill the animal in order to facilitate her rescue.

The victim had suffered severe injuries, including deep, gaping wounds across her arms, legs, and side, and was losing blood rapidly. Emergency responders acted swiftly, transporting her to a designated landing zone where she was then airlifted by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville for urgent medical treatment. The situation highlights the dangers that can arise with pet ownership and the critical role of law enforcement in emergency scenarios.
