Loretto Police Conduct Welfare Check, Leading to High-Speed Pursuit

On January 14, 2025, officers from Loretto were dispatched to conduct a welfare check on an individual who had reportedly passed out in a vehicle parked near Cash Savers. Upon arrival, law enforcement encountered a white male who appeared to be under the influence of drugs. In a surprising turn of events, the driver managed to flee the scene in the car, prompting a high-speed chase that wound through Loretto, Saint Joseph, and into Alabama.

The pursuit escalated as Lauderdale County authorities joined in, tracking the vehicle as it sped through Greenhill and ultimately into Killen. The chase came to a dramatic halt when the suspect collided with a county patrol unit. Following the crash on Alabama Street, law enforcement apprehended the driver, who was later identified as Thomas Rosa, a resident of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.

Rosa was taken into custody by Lauderdale County officers, facing multiple charges stemming from the incident. Among these charges are narcotics-related offenses, as officers discovered methamphetamine and marijuana inside the vehicle. Additionally, the Loretto Police Department placed him under hold for several serious infractions, including reckless endangerment, reckless driving, evading arrest, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.

Further investigation revealed that Rosa is also wanted on several warrants from New Jersey, as well as outstanding warrants in Ashland City and Maury County, Tennessee. The case highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in dealing with drug-related incidents and the complexities of pursuing suspects with extensive criminal backgrounds.
