On September 3, the Loretto Police Department reported the arrest of Robert Timothy Lance for Aggravated Assault following an incident at Weathers’ Park. A contractor working at the park alerted authorities after experiencing harassment from Lance, who allegedly obstructed the contractor’s work, recorded him using a cellphone, and threatened him with a firearm.
During the booking process, Lance reportedly made threatening remarks directed at several city officials, including the Mayor, City Manager, Aldermen, and Police Chief. These statements led to an additional charge of Terroristic Threats. A subsequent search of Lance’s home resulted in the recovery of the firearm involved in the incident, along with other weapons.
Lance is currently being held at the Lawrence County Jail, with a bond set at $110,000. He is scheduled to make his first court appearance in General Sessions in October. The arrest was supported by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, the St. Joseph Police Department, and constables Randy Tucker and Tony Lancaster. It is important to note that Lance is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
