The black Labrador, named Gemini, commenced his role earlier this month, equipped with the ability to identify firearms and ammunition. This initiative comes in the wake of a tragic incident in 2010, when a shooting at Discovery Middle School resulted in the death of one student at the hands of another.
The Madison district has faced additional gun-related occurrences, including two separate incidents that took place last fall. In light of these events, school officials are committed to strengthening security measures throughout the district.
