Marcus Alton Johns, 98, of Florence, passed away on December 31, 2024, at his residence. He was a beloved produce merchandiser and a dedicated member of Sherrod Avenue Church of Christ.
He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Frances Wright Johns, his son Michael Johns (Chris), and his daughters Janet Bowers and Regina Cook (Stan). Marcus is also survived by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Jackson Johns and Reba Hine Johns, as well as his brothers Elvin Johns, Cledith Johns, and Waylon Johns, and his sisters Effie Beavers, Lucille Quillen, and Joyce Bowman.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the funeral home chapel, with Justin Pannell officiating. Marcus will be laid to rest at Shiloh Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mars Hill Bible School or to Sherrod Ave Church of Christ.
Marcus will be dearly missed by all who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in peace.
