Marilyn Gatlin Jones, 69, of Killen, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at NAMC. She was born to Odell and Letha Gatlin and was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Wayne Gatlin and Gary Gatlin.
Marilyn was a dedicated educator, having graduated from UNA and earned her master’s degree in education at Georgia Southern. She taught at various Military bases and was known for her passion for teaching. Additionally, she served as a Pilates Instructor for 23 years at the YMCA, positively impacting the lives of many. Her commitment to her community was further recognized when she was honored by the Shirley Smiles Foundation.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Thomas C. Jones, and her brother, Charles Gatlin. Marilyn also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, from 10 AM to 12 PM at Elkins East Chapel, followed by a funeral service in the chapel with Bro. Landon Willis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the YMCA in honor of Marilyn’s memory.
Marilyn will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
