Marvenell Forsyth Burgess, 91, of Five Points, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at NHC Pulaski. She was born on February 12, 1934, in Minor Hill, TN, to John Lee and Opal Glass Forsyth. Marvenell was a devoted member of the Lexington Church of Christ and found joy in planting flowers, reading her Bible, and baking her famous homemade chocolate pie, which was always a hit at Homecoming. She also indulged in watching her favorite soap operas, particularly Young and the Restless.
Marvenell was preceded in death by her parents, John and Opal Forsyth, her husband of 31 years, Floyd Burgess, and her sisters, Allene White and Dorothy Forsyth. She was also preceded in death by her sons-in-law, Greg Nunley, Glen McRee, and Tommy Wright.
Visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place at 1pm on Thursday, June 19, 2025, with interment to follow in Bonnertown Cemetery.
Marvenell is survived by her daughters, Diane Aymett of Minor Hill, Sandra McRee of Goodspring, and Denise Nunley of Rogersville. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Greg, Sharon, Leslie, Glynda, Chris, Mandy, Lee, Brooke, and Elven, as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
The family extends a special thanks to Pulaski NHC for the kindness and care they provided to Marvenell during her stay.
Marvenell will be dearly missed by all who knew her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
