In the early hours of Friday, April 18th, the Maury County Fire Department was called into action for two significant mutual aid incidents. The first response took place in the City of Franklin, where firefighters assisted with a Haz Mat Truck on Interstate 65 at the 61-mile marker. This response was prompted by a propane leak originating from a recreational vehicle. Upon arrival, the fire department quickly took control of the situation, ensuring safety by removing the propane tank that had been dislodged into the RV due to the accident.
Later that same night, at approximately 3:21 AM, the department was alerted to a fire at a landfill located on Mooresville Highway. In response to this incident, a tanker from Marshall County was dispatched and stood by while heavy machinery, specifically dozers, worked to create a containment line around the blaze. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of the fire crews, the fire was successfully contained by 4:30 AM, allowing the tanker to be released from the scene.
