On Tuesday afternoon, the Maury County Fire Department responded to an automatic aid request for a residential fire in Mt. Pleasant City. Upon arrival, the firefighting units were assigned to both the ventilation group and the fire attack team. The ventilation crew executed two strategic cutouts: one positioned above the first floor and another above the second floor of the building.
As the fire attack progressed, firefighters advanced a 1 3/4-inch hand line to the second floor; however, conditions began to worsen, prompting a shift in strategy to defensive operations. Firefighters remained on the scene for approximately three and a half hours, battling the blaze under increasingly challenging circumstances. Chief Stewart from Mt. Pleasant expertly coordinated the efforts of three different fire departments that were involved in combating the fire, showcasing effective leadership during a complex incident.
