Maury County Sheriff’s Department Launches Cold Case Unit

In a groundbreaking move, the Maury County Sheriff’s Department introduced its inaugural Cold Case Unit towards the end of 2023, with a mission to seek justice for victims of long-standing unsolved investigations. Comprised of a diverse team of retired law enforcement officers, former forensic examiners, and individuals with backgrounds in criminal justice, this newly established unit brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the table.

Among the cases that the Cold Case Unit is delving into is the disappearance of Amber Cates, who was just 16 years old when she went missing. Leading the charge on Amber’s case is Lt. Roscoe Voss, who revealed that while the team juggles multiple cold cases, Amber’s investigation currently takes precedence. Since its inception, the Cold Case Unit has made significant strides in its efforts to crack these longstanding mysteries.

Lt. Voss urges anyone with information regarding the Cates case or any other unresolved cases to reach out to him directly at 931-375-6601 or via email at [email protected]. The community’s cooperation and assistance are pivotal in bringing closure to these lingering cases and delivering justice to the victims and their families.
