Mello Jo Lester, 87, of Summertown, TN, passed away on January 25th, 2025 at her home. Jo was born on February 23rd, 1937 to the late Tasso Townsel Gobble and Mamie Izora Brewer Gobble in Ruppertown, TN. She was a devoted member of Noah’s Ark and Brace Baptist Church in Summertown. Jo and her late husband, Thomas, raised three children and fostered several others. She was known for her volunteer work at her church and the county fair, and enjoyed yard selling, collecting antiques, cooking, baking, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Terry Joe Lester (Glynda) and Deborah Walker (David); sisters, Jewell Farris and Faye Howell; grandchildren, Matthew, Tiffany, Heather, Kevin, Bryan, Beth, and Cheyenne; great-grandchildren, Brentley, Eli, Madison, Knoxley, and Hayden; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home on Friday, January 31st, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Funeral Home on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at Brace Cemetery in Summertown. Brother Art McCormick and Rich Mayberry will be officiating.
