Michael Wayne (Donnie “Duck”) Murks, born on July 19, 1949, peacefully passed away at home in his sleep on April 7, 2025. He dedicated 21+ years to serving his community in law enforcement, including the City of Minor Hill, TN, the state of Alabama, and the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Murks also served honorably in the US Navy.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jennifer Fisher Murks; three sons, Michael Murks, Rodney Murks, and Jonathan Dillard; the mother of his children, Shirley Bivens Futch; five grandsons, David, Austin, Cody, Kobe, and Zachary; one granddaughter, Audrey; one great-grandson, Carter James Murks; and one great-grandson on the way, Jayce Michael Murks. He is also survived by three sisters, five brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Neal Funeral Home on April 10, 2025, and a celebration of life will be conducted at Faith Church on April 11, 2025. The family suggests memorials be made to the charity of your choice.
