In a significant development, the official misconduct charges against Jesse Turner, the City Manager of Loretto, were officially retired in Lawrence County Circuit Court on Thursday. Earlier this year, Turner faced indictment related to allegations concerning city employees who utilized a municipal vehicle to perform work on the septic system at his residence in Leoma. The investigation into this matter was conducted by the State Comptroller’s Office, which played a crucial role in examining the circumstances surrounding the case.
During the court proceedings, it was established that the employees involved were not on duty at the time of the incident, leading to the conclusion that there was no breach of the city’s vehicle policy. Judge Russ Parkes presided over the case and ultimately ruled to retire the charges against Turner. Furthermore, he indicated that after a period of six months, there is a possibility for the charges to be completely expunged from Turner’s official record, allowing him to move forward without the burden of this legal issue.
