On the morning of September 18, around 10:30 a.m., the Central Alabama Veterans Medical Center in Montgomery became the target of threatening phone calls directed at its crisis hotline. In response to this alarming situation, Special Agents from the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI), part of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, were dispatched to assist with securing the facility and searching for the individual responsible for the threats.
Following an investigation, authorities apprehended 61-year-old Michael Barnett at his residence in Camp Hill. He now faces serious charges, including making terroristic threats and issuing false alarms to a hospital. After his arrest, Barnett was taken to the Montgomery County Jail, where he was able to secure his release by posting an $18,000 bond. As a result of these developments, the lockdown at the Central Alabama Veterans Medical Center has since been lifted, allowing operations to return to normal.
