On Friday, November 27th, a deputy from Lawrence County responded to a distress call regarding gunfire directed at a residence. Upon the deputy’s arrival, the homeowner discovered that their back door had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and the refrigerator had also been riddled with bullets, with some penetrating entirely through the appliance. The damage extended beyond the kitchen, as several shots had passed through the fridge and cabinets, entering the adjacent room.
In the course of the investigation, the deputy collected evidence related to the ammunition used in the incident. To gather more information, the officer approached a neighbor to inquire if they had witnessed or heard anything unusual. The neighbor revealed that he had been firing his weapons earlier that day in a nearby field, indicating that he had been aiming at three cardboard boxes. The alignment of his targets and the positioning of his rifles corresponded directly with the trajectory that would have struck the residence.
Following this revelation, the neighbor was cautioned about the importance of handling firearms responsibly. Subsequently, he was taken into custody and charged with Reckless Endangerment. He was then transported to the Lawrence County Jail, where both firearms involved in the incident were confiscated and secured as evidence for further investigation.
