New inclusive playgrounds are currently under construction at both Florence High School and Muscle Shoals Middle School. Dianna Ritter, the principal of Muscle Shoals Middle School, shared that the initiative gained momentum remarkably quickly, with decisions being made in less than a day. As the project progresses, work is underway on the surrounding landscape, and the foundational structures for an accessible swing set and slide have already been established. The overarching goal of this initiative is to foster an environment where all children can participate together, embrace inclusivity, and relish the joy of outdoor play.
