Omas Lester, 96, of Waynesboro, TN, passed away on August 3, 2025, at his residence. He was a retired electrician and a veteran of the United States Air Force, having served in the Korean War. Omas was a devoted member of St. Joseph Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sons Herbert Lester and Tim Lester (Tresa), daughters Patty Bates (Edward) and Teresa Potete, brothers Fred Roberts, Carl Roberts, and Billy Roberts, sister Sally Nelson, 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Omas was preceded in death by his wife, Blanche Kelley Lester, and his parents, Herbert Lester and Lucy Morgan Lester. He was also preceded in death by a grandchild, a great-grandchild, a great-great-grandchild, and several brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 5:00 – 8:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 1:00pm in the funeral home chapel, with Larry Wimmer and Eli Pounders officiating. Omas will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery with full military honors at the graveside.
Pallbearers will include Chris Lester, Joe Lester, Colton Lester, Daniel Potete, Allen Potete, and Phillip Potete. Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements. Omas will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
