On Thursday, May 8th, 2025, the Lawrenceburg City Council convened at 9:00 AM in the Council Meeting Room situated within the Municipal Complex at 25 Public Square. Among the items on the agenda was a proposed ordinance aimed at vacating a section of land designated as the right-of-way for an alley that lies between Depot Street and First Street. This alley extends from the eastern boundary of Fain Court to the western boundary of the Tennessee Southern Railroad, and it is located within the eighth civil district of Lawrence County, specifically in the city of Lawrenceburg.
The ordinance, which was presented for its first reading, also addressed the retention of any existing utility easements, the repeal of any conflicting ordinances, and the timeline for its implementation. In conjunction with this ordinance, the council discussed resolutions, one of which involved accepting a proposal and entering into a contract with Roof Systems Inc. for the replacement of the roof on the Municipal Complex building located at the same address.
The council unanimously agreed to proceed with the ordinance concerning the vacation of the alley. The alley in question runs from east to west between Depot Street and First Street, and the council determined that it would be in the best interest of the city to vacate and abandon this property, subsequently conveying it equally to the adjacent property owners. Importantly, the city will maintain any necessary utility easements that are currently in place or deemed essential for future use.
The ordinance is set to take effect following its passage, with the public welfare necessitating its prompt implementation. Additionally, the resolution to accept the contract with Roof Systems Inc. received approval from the council. After reviewing three proposals, it was concluded that Roof Systems Inc. was the most suitable choice to collaborate with Evers Construction on this project. The total cost for the roof renovation is estimated at $84,989.00.
