Perry County has proudly become the 57th county in Tennessee to participate in the Everywhere You Look, UT initiative. This ambitious campaign aims to have a mural in each of the state’s 95 counties by the year 2030. Launched in 2018, the project has already resulted in the creation of 63 murals across Tennessee, showcasing local culture and community spirit. The inaugural mural in each county is financed by the University of Tennessee, and in Perry County, it adorns the historic Bank of Perry County building located in Lobelville.
Mayor Robby Moore expressed his enthusiasm about this new artistic addition to the town, stating that it is a significant honor to be part of such a meaningful project. The presence of the University of Tennessee’s Institute of Agriculture and the UT Extension office in Perry County plays a vital role in the lives of rural residents. These institutions provide essential information and skills that empower locals to enhance their livelihoods, bolster local economies, and improve overall family well-being. They offer a range of educational programs covering agriculture, community resource development, family and consumer sciences, natural resources, and 4-H youth development.
In addition to these educational initiatives, the UT Municipal Technical Advisory Service and the UT County Technical Advisory Service offer professional support to local governments. Their assistance helps improve public service, strengthen infrastructure, and enhance governance within the community. Residents and visitors alike are encouraged to explore this new mural, which stands as a testament to the collaboration between the university and the local community.
